Through the years I've read about some members shooting they're single shot pistols. Do you stick to the std vel or can you shoot something faster? Larry

I don't think that anyone has made a single shot 22 handgun since the 40s or 50s with the exception of Thompson Contenders and "pen guns" which are different animals.
The older steel is not up to todays standards in terms of durability and so I use only standard velocity or shorts in my 3rd model S&W. I don't profess to be an expert but thats my recommendation. I would also make sure that the hinge is well oiled to prevent wear. |

I would agree with moosedog. My 2nd model sees only std vel, which it shoots very well indeed. The latch is quite snug and hopefully it will stay that way for it's next caretaker. Ken

Thanks, I have a contender and was mainly interested in the S&W single shots. How accurate do they shoot? I have one in sight to purchace but really in no hurry to get it. Larry
