I just got this yesterday at a gun auction, been looking for a long time. It had N frame magnas on it, nice set of grips but wrong. i'm looking for the right grips if any one can help that would be great. I guess i need N frame with the gold trademark. ser#37560. it's has i think canadian marking on the frame. it is a true 455. any info would be great. thanks[IMG]

Yeah, it was Canadian property at one time. See that little C with the Broad Arrow on it? Canadian mark. The others are probably proof marks.

I believe the mark in front of the trigger guard, (sixth photo) indicates that it was released from the military for civilian sale. I thought that this, the crossed pendants (a proof mark, fourth photo), and the column of markings including a crown near the rear edge of the frame (last photo) were British markings.
But there is no doubt that the "broad arrow within the large C" is a Canadian property mark. Would you mind letting us know what you paid? ______________________________________________________________________________ In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. Were the magnas on it diamond magnas? If so, you thinking of parting with them?
I've never seen an unaltered .455 before. Have seen several that were modified for .45 ACP or .45 Colt. Neat find! |
