Does anyone know if the 686+ will fit a standard 686 holster? Does the 7 shot cylinder make any difference?

Thanks

Depends how tight and how well-boned the holster is. My 3" 681+ guns ride well in my VMII, which was made for a 3" 6-shot 686. I carry my CS-1 in the same holster.

MOST holster it will not make a bit of difference. I suspect that on VERY few, it might make a slight difference. The cylinder is the same size, but the + model will have an extra flute.

I tried to fit my 686+ into a Don Hume made for a 686, and the cylinder area was a little "off". The Hume is molded, a "looser" fitting holster probably works alot better.

That would be a good question not to overlook when ordering a holster.

Don't carry a gun because of what may happen today. Carry because once, just once, and at the least likely time imaginable, you may run into the worst monster you ever could imagine. Be their worst nightmare and resist them with all the stubbornness that our pioneer ancestors posessed. To do less is to be unamerican.

I just got a Desantis 01 belt holster and it said nothing about being a + but my 686+ fit great..a little tight at first but loosened as i wore it. The instructions said to put a dress sock on the weapon and work it into the holster and leave it over night to loosen it up a little. I never got the thing in the holster with the sock on it but it fit ok after a few days and with a few practice draws. The only thing I would change, is my next one won't have a thumb snap.

A sharp knife or scissors will take care of that problem.

Thanks Kollin,
I thought about that, but I gotta wait until the "New" wears off Smiler. I have a few leather working tools and sides of bullhide left over from a boot making venture I went on a couple of years ago. I was thinking about breaking down a cheap nylon holster and using it for a pattern with a few improvements thrown in for good measure.
