Unless you are in a tourist location, this size carry thing "man purse" will get you noticed, you wont blend in.

Worse; you do look like a tourist and are carrying a high priced camera, binoculars, personal documents or money in a easy to notice and grab case.

What if a pick pocket thinks the "purse" hardware will break and attempts a "grab and run"; he pulls the velcro corner and zip, there is your gun.

IMHO, sarcasm free.

I got the blue one because I felt it blended in better. The tactical look doesn't fit with my normal style of dress. Even with shipping from Israel the bag is reasonable. http://www.zahal.org/rifle/p28.htm

Ummm....that's a PURSE! Roll Eyes

1. a woman's handbag or pocketbook.
2. a small bag, pouch, or case for carrying money.
3. anything resembling a purse in appearance, use, etc.

It's easy to get drawn in by the convenience and practicality of such a "man bag." But, don't give in! Please remember that Jack Bauer's purse on '24' is part of a vast Hollywood conspiracy to feminize America. You may think that such a bag makes you look like an Israeli soldier or something. But, here in America, it does not. I'm sorry but you'll need to get pants with more pockets, a utility belt, or a woman to carry all your extra crap in her purse. Anything else is a clear violation of longstanding Dude law. Wink

Just got back from a vacation that included a trip to Epcot. Noticed a whole lot of young families and a lot husbands wearing all kinds of shoulder bags, fanny packs, and assorted carry devices. Disney requires all bags coming into the park to be searched and guns are forbidden in the park. If this were not the case I would have suspected about one in every three males to be carrying off body.

It gets hot where I live. This works for me. If it doesn't work for you just keep walking.

I'm teasin' ya. Razzer Since Ft. Worth is featured on every other episode of COPS, you've gotta carry something. Wink I've got the same issue in Georgia. It's so danged hot here in the summer that if I was going to carry concealed I'd probably have to carry a teeny-tiny Keltec or something. Confused But, since our fair city is on every other episode of AMW, I'll probably have to carry something... Cool

As you can tell this guy in Israel wouldn't be caught carrying a man purse.

In the Seattle area it seems most men have some form of man-purse. Be it a messenger bag or shoulder bag of some sort. I must admit that I have a Maxpedition bag I carry off-body sometimes. Usually while driving a lot. The bag sits in front of the center seat in my truck. It is really handy and easily accessible. But the downside is that I have the dorky man purse thing when out of the truck. But I have gotten used to it and no one really pays me any mind. Again in Seattle this is just not a big deal at all.

You need to blend in, or you will stick out.
The bags will work in certain situations.

I tried fanny packs walking around flee markets wearing shorts and a tee shirt with any problems.

Tried it at at a job once, and everyone wants to know what you got.

Pack plenty of the butt wipes too. Never know when the family will need them.

That looks a lot like the Maxpedition versipak Fatboy. Maxpedition makes them in black, (doesn't scream "I'm armed" like camo, Khaki, or OD green,) I've been known to carry a manpurse anyway, so I've been thinking of getting one. If it will let me pack around my 1911, I'm all for it. Smiler

Out West, does that compartment have a Velcro fastener? If so, does it SCREAM when the tab is pulled? Just curious, some of the Velcro fasteners are really loud when they are pulled quickly!

TrooperDan - it has a zipper, no velcro. A tab sticks out that allows you to rip the pouch open with your off hand and pull the pistol with your shooting hand. Quiet. It doesn't scream "shoot me" or anything else. Big Grin

This really is a geographical issue it seems. Where I lived in SoCal and here in Idaho Falls lots of guys ride bikes and lots have some sort of "bag". I have been using a messenger bag for quite some time now and find them very useful and very much a part of society.

I think the comment about Jack Bauer trying to feminize our society is pretty funny.

Marom Dolphin tends to make good gear. They're a supplier of various kit to the IDF and even made my external wear armor. I'd wondered how Zahal was to deal with, as I was thinking of getting one of the IDF LBVs from them.

I have an Americna Tourister bag, $5 from the clearance luggage bin at Tuesday Morning. I'm probably going to replace it with either the LA Police Gear "Bail Out" bag (http://www.lapolicegear.com/tabaoutbag.html) or an EOD/Mine Bag (http://www.countycomm.com/minebag.htm). I think that the PAPG bag will hold more, but the EOD bag is amusing for its MOLLE options and built in M4 pouches.

I've changed my mind about bags, as short of a large ALICE ruck, no one will notice much or car if a guy also has an infant in tow. (When the kids are olderm they can be chained to a cart and pull that ruck for you.) Note that a gun is one of the few things that I don't carry in a bag.
