Del Fatti or Alessi for Model 36---any thoughts?

Both are top of the line...but do you really need one of those...particularly for a 36? Check Galco and you'll find very nice and very serviceable holsters.
Not trying to talk you outta what you want...just my opinion. Be safe. |

You can't beat those to for quality.
I found I really like the pancake holsters for J frames from Simply Rugged. Quick delivery and nice quality for the money. |

Matt Del Fatti is THE BEST leather craftsman out there today. Making the decision on which holster maker is the simple part. The hard part is actually finding/buying one. Matt is no longer taking orders and Alessi has a 1 year wait.

I have dozens of leather artworks from both Lou and Matt.
When you talk about this level of craftsmanship, it's sort of a Da Vinci-Michelangelo comparison; both are masters, how can you say one is "better"? Decide what you want, and choose. You'll be happy with both makers' work. Get something from each! |

Take a look at Kramer holsters, they too are top notch and seem much more available.

What models are you looking at to compare? Since their wait times are so long, maybe we can point you to another maker with a similar design and good quality...

I am a retired law enforcement officer who worked for 34 years. Most of the time and even now I used Alessi holsters and found them to be
above all others. (I do admit that I have never seen a DelFatti) That said you can't go wrong with an Alessi and its too bad the wait is now so long , I'm sure it will keep some from going in that direction. The Alessi ankle holster is the absolute best in that type of holster and I have worn it most of my adult life in the hours I have been awake & that says a lot! |

I started using Alessi leather many years ago when I was a cop in New York. A good friend and fellow officer turned me on to Aleesi holsters. I've owned and used many Alessi holsters ever since. My current and most used Alessi holster is a pocket holster that I carry my model 642 in. It fits most of my J frames including the model 36. Alessi makes a good quality product. There's ususally a little wait involved in getting one but that seems to be the norm with any quality rig from any of the top holster makers.
