After months of hemming and hawing and agonizing over which holster I wanted to go with, I finally got the stones up to trust one maker enough to spend the money on a holster.

I called the good folks at El Paso Saddlery and placed an order for this: http://www.epsaddlery.com/pc-162-20-crosshair.aspx

It will be a home for my 5 inch Model 27 that I've recently started carrying quite often whenever I can get away with it. I won't be wearing it much during the Florida summer, at least when I'm headed into town, but traipsing the woods and swamps while camping and during hunting season it ought to make for a good companion. I'll post up some pics when it finally comes in. Looking at 6-8 weeks now for production and shipping. Oh, the agony of waiting....

Nice!

Can't go wrong with a hand boned pancake and can't go wrong with EPS.

Las armas son necesarias
Pero nadie sabe cuando;
Asi no, si andas paseando,
Y de noche sobre todo,
Debes llevarlo de modo
Que al salir, salga cortando.

Guy on the phone said that they are fairly closely boned to the gun, which is what I want. He said a five inch wouldn't be a problem, so I'm hoping everything will come together OK.

For years now I have been using the same EPS Street Combat to carry four large frame revolvers: 4" Redhawk (for which the holster was originally made), 4" full lug 625, 4" 625 Mountain Gun and 3" full lug 625. That single holster fits all four of these revolvers perfectly and I have carried all of these revolvers concealed, often under just a T Shirt during high heat and humidity. I briefly tried a 5" 25-7 with a different holster but never cared for the longer barrel length. My Street Combat is relatively simple and not tightly boned, which contributes to the versatility. I believe an N Frame is the best concealed carry revolver and EPS makes it possible to carry them concealed. You will not be disappointed.

Anyone try their Snap-off Elite, which looks to be the snap loop version of the Crosshair? Does it conceal just as well or do you lose some sturdiness or stability with snaps?

I was wondering the same thing. Sure would be easier to take off and put on. They all look like nice stuff.

After you've had a chance to stomp around the swamps, springs and sink holes of Leon county, make sure you give us an "after action report". Wink

I will, MOONDAWG. I even get over your way, occasionally. Was in FWB a few weeks ago, purchasing some Glocks that Okaloosa S.O. turned in for new ones.

Don't tell anybody, but I'm actually in Wakulla. I gotta go, I think I hear banjos playing in the distance... Razzer

Vanilla Gorilla, I must say you have excellent taste. I just ordered my Crosshair for my 5906 about 3 weeks ago. Actually never thought about one for my revolvers (which is what I shoot mainly.) My 5906 is my favorite auto, and it needed a nice ride. I can't wait to get it. Looking forward to your report.

I must admit, I wanted this holster shown here.

Turns out the only one I can find like it is the maker of this one, Derry Gallagher. Gallagher has a reputation for business that can only be described as "wretched" so I had to choose from somebody else. I'm sure I could have Rosen do one similar, but I cannot afford Rosen prices right now.
