If the spring is too weak, you could stretch it just a little bit to see if it improves the feel. I doubt that would make that big a difference though.


The safety can also be modified to allow a more positive engaugement with the plunger. This is done with a small ball cutter and produces detents for the plunger to engauge.

Redmond was nice but expensive, and housing ridiculous

I had the safety of my Colt 1911 knocked off once by the leather safety strap. I pulled it out to put it in the lock-box so I could go into the jail, and saw that the safety had slipped down. I got another holster quick!

I had the same experience with an early Springfield 1911 in an El Paso Saddlery Tortilla holster. After shift, I replaced the plunger and spring with one from a Colt and never had another problem.
