To start off with, I'm a fat guy. That's life at the moment. I'm working on slimming down, but in the meantime, I need some holster info.

Me: 6'1, 300, 44x30 jeans, long torso. I've got dunlop disease. My gut has dun lopped over my belt.

I'm looking for a holster for my M&P C9 that will work with shorts and a t-shirt. Any other fat guys out there that have found IWB holsters that work well?

My work attire requires jeans / dockers and a tucked in polo. So I’ll be looking for a tuckable IWB holster as well. I do some crawling around under desks, so printing will be a concern.

Thanks for the input.

I'm not familer with that model handgun. I'm also an economy sized guy (6'4"-295 lbs.)I just built a pocket holster for my new Kahr PM45. If your pistol is small enough, pocket carry works for me. I also carry a J frame Smith and a Beretta Tomcat the same way.
Good luck in your holster search!

6'4" 270 here. Try the Crossbreed Super-tuck or Comp-tac Minotaur. They are leather/kydex hybrids that are slim, adjustable, and tuckable. Most IWB's don't allow you to tuck in a shirt. These two do, and allow full control over the depth/cant of the gun. I have used both, and they both work well (I prefer the Comp-tac).

Hey guys,

Thanks for the info. I'll start there.

Up until this weekend, I had a KelTec P3AT for carry at work. Used a pocket holster and that worked great. I'd much rather carry the M&P if possible.

I can pocket carry the M&P in my cargo shorts, but its not the ideal setup.

I welcome any other holster suggestions.

Did some looking and the issue that I'm having is most of the holsters I've found place the butt of the gun too far above my waist band.

The DeSantis "Tuck This" IWB Holster (http://www.desantisholster.com/n91.html) looks like it allow for the gun to be holstered much lower in my pants. However, I hear that the J-hooks aren't all that great.

Anyone know of another holster that rides lower? The Comp-Tac Kydex C-T.A.C. IWB Holster looked great, however many of the reviews I read said the new longer standard clips don't feel that great. Plus it is a bit more than I wanted to spend. The C-clips don't sound like they're long enough to meet my needs.

The only other option I've come across is a wrap holser that I can wear inside my waistband. Gelco makes one.

I think FIST makes a holster that rides really low. Check their website, and welcome to the forum. Smiler

Don't carry a gun because of what may happen today. Carry because once, just once, and at the least likely time imaginable, you may run into the worst monster you ever could imagine. Be their worst nightmare and resist them with all the stubbornness that our pioneer ancestors posessed. To do less is to be unamerican.

Fist makes an IWB that keeps the gun grip below the beltline and completely out of sight. That may or may not be a good thing.

i got the 1.5" C clips on my MTAC.
It supports an XD45C.
The gunbelt is most important.
The C clips are excellent.

The regular clip (slips over the belt) allows for too much movement for my tastes.
J clip (hang on the pants and hook behind and under the belt....Everyone I have pulls the pants down behind the belt with my XD...no good either.

Crossbreed Holsters are also an option for you, but the wait for them is a bit long...Why I went with the Comp-Tac...had it in less than 2 weeks, and they throw in some candy to boot!

Sorry, can't help on the IWB however, at 6'4", 370lbs besides looking into a good diet plan I'm thinking about a shoulder holster that offers designs for use with a 3" Model 610 and a CZ-75b.

Mostly for range and woods carry with occasional CCW when weather, clothing and situation warrant. I've never worn a shoulder rig and thought it might be hard to find one with adequate length to the adjustments.

I have a Galco shoulder holster that is fitted to a Beretta 92FS.
I'm not a small guy, and took some time to get it rigged properly for me. Had to hang it at about a 45 Degree cant, muzzle up for concealment.

The Bianchi Scorpio rig I used for years with a Walther PPK/S allowed for lateral draw. Both are/were comfortable.

Note: Jacket required....

This is tough, I have about the same dimensions, except I am vertically challenged. I'm not too heavy for my height, I'm too short for my weight! Big Grin

You might try checking out the Smart Carry, which carries your gun under your pants fly, and puts the top of the gun butt about right at the top of your pants, or, you could wear it lower if you want. Some other options would be a belly band, an ankle holster (pull a sock over it since you will be crawling under desks) or a shoulder holster under your polo shirt. Check out Ken Null's shoulder holsters.

Good luck!

+1 for the shoulder holster. I'm 5'9" and bounce between 225 and 245. I used to use a Bianchi X-15M, then went to the Galco Miami Classic shoulder holster. Also very convenient if you use the rest room a lot. Also consider an ankle holster, depending on if one is made for your gun.

Galco does have a Miami Classic harness in XXL. The web site states it will fit a 64 in chest. I have a 62 in chest and have the XXl harness and can tell you it will fit.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I'll look into the Smart Carry. Also kicked around the idea of a belly band however wear it below my belt line.

The shoulder holsters won't work for me as I don't wear a business jacket for work and being in Florida, I only wear a coat once in a blue moon. When its 46 outside, I'm in shorts and a tee. Cool

Thanks again for all the suggestions as I don't want to spend $400 in the process of trying to find a holster that'll work.

Mr. Onree, I am built as you are and had the same problem. I found that front pocket pants carry works best for me. I have several J frame guns that fit into the pocket holsters and I can carry them and forget about them. That's right, a J frame in the right front pocket just disappears and you well forget you have it. Lately I have carried a Glock 30 in the same way. I use a cydex plastic holster with it after removing the belt loop parts. That way it is in a very thin plastic holster that doesn't take up any extra pocket space. I wear super short cargo shorts with a 4 inch inseam and NO ONE in the many years that I have been carrying has ever made me. I like the Glock because it is the same exact size and weight as the J frame but has 11 rounds of 45 goodness. How can you beat that?? Captain Hornet
