Does Nebraska law only require to show your handgun license, or does it require you to tell the officer that you are carrying a handgun?

Those two are most definitely not equivalent.

Here in Ohio you must inform the officer that you are carrying a handgun and that you do so under a CHL IF you are actually carrying. We are not required to say anything if we are not armed and we are not required to automatically hand over the license.

I have been asked for my handgun license once out of the three police interactions I've had in the last year and a half.

Asi no, si andas paseando,

Debes llevarlo de modo

HKSmith,

Just drop down a few miles and go thru Mo. & Ks. Both honor the Ohio permit and we could use the gas tax money. Not as much corn as NE. but thats about to be cut anyway

Thanks for all your suggestions and comments. We're safely back in Ohio now having had a great trip to the Rocky Mountain Natl. Park area. I thought of the Southern route, but it would have added 100's of miles to an already long trip (2 days each way - it's a lo-o-ong way across Nebraska!).

I know this is a little late but for future dates or other readers going to pass through Nebraska the law states the weapon must be either in plain view or locked in a case. You can have the gun loaded in plain view and I verified this by talking to a state trooper. He said that they preffered plain view versus locked in a case and let the officer know immediatley if pulled over.
