How well does a change in grips for Model 640 sold by S & W improve concealment posibilities?

A change from UMC[standard issue]to UMB or service stocks makes a good difference.

Depending on your problem, and how you want to conceal it, you might want to try some of the compact grips sold by Eagle. Rubber grips catch on certain fabrics that wood doesn't.

Those giant rubber grips S&W puts on those J frames are needlessly big for pocket carry. try something that doesn't extend past the bottom of the grip frame. I use Altamont boot grips on my 360.

Don't carry a gun because of what may happen today. Carry because once, just once, and at the least likely time imaginable, you may run into the worst monster you ever could imagine. Be their worst nightmare and resist them with all the stubbornness that our pioneer ancestors posessed. To do less is to be unamerican.

Take a look at Hogue's rubber boot grips, they're super light.
Edited to mean Bantams.

The Hogue Bantam Grips are the smallest lightest ones you can get for the J Frame. If you order them from S&W they'll have the S&W Logo on them.

I replaced my Uncle Mikes Boot grips with the Dyanwood service stocks from S&W and installated a Tyler T grip. Better for concealment in my opinion.

You could start something there.

I went with Hogue Bantums, have two sets of combat grips (the old good ones), two types of Pachmyers, and Hogue mono grips in storage. Tried them all on my Model 60.
