I have given this a little more thought and am starting to see this a little diferently. I carry a knife because I want to carry a knife and no other reason. If at some time I use it to defend myself or a family member so be it and I will deal with that if it happens. It is not illegal in the parts of the state where I go and I intend to do nothing illegal with it. Therefore I will not apologize for it, rights unused are rights lost. Jim.

No, that's not what I'm saying. I am saying that the possession of a butcher knife [my term], as you suggested, would be more likely, not less, to get you in trouble --- in Illinois. I explained why: Inferred intent, based on all the circumstances. I may have mistakenly confused the issue earlier, but I am talking only in terms of possession. |

In a knife fight, even the winner gets cut. My simple cane with the brass end will let me reach out and touch someone who is still a couple of feet out of touch with me. Keith/NRA Life
