Hi all,

As you know, I build holsters and "stuff" on the side. Rest assured, anything I make helps pay for ammo or new guns (I'm working on getting an L-Frame right now).

The main problem I have is that I do not carry a revolver. I do plink with them on the range and occasionally go to an ICORE match. Everyone who carries a revolver daily has little tricks and ideas. I need those ideas; otherwise, I'll have to carry my N-Frame for a year or so in order to figure out what's REALLY needed...I want to shorten that development time.

Several folks have expressed interest in some changes to some of my experiments.

Given the above speed loader pocket holder, what would you change? Note that it's made to go in the left pocket. It should be ambidextrous.

If you could have anything made to support your revolver (from kydex and a few other materials), what would it be?

Other ideas people have had:

1) Belt mounted Bianchi Speed Strip Holder
2) Breast pocket speed loader holder

I'd like a bullet loops panel that has an option to clip on using a nice study spring steel clip, with optional belt loops molded on the back.

On your design, I would like the right side, section B, to curve upward a little (to hold it tight against the seam, in my left hand suit pants pocket) and the speedloader to sit maybe 3 or 4mm lower in the holder. I'm guessing on my measurements as it's hard to tell from the photo.

If you make a prototype for a K-frame speedloader, for left hand, or left pocket carry, I'd like to purchase one. I carry a revolver ofter (model 66) and would have use for your product. Great ideas you have, I hope you produce them for sale here. Thanks! Regards 18DAI.

Edited to add: I would really like a dual Kydex speedloader holder, that would clip on my belt, and hold the speedloaders closer to my body.

Model 19 Combat Magnum. Everything you need in a revolver, and nothing you don't.

I own several 45 ACP Smith revolvers and shoot them very well for an old retiree.

The downfall to concealed carry for the 325, 22TRR, and 625 system is no way to efficently carry a reload.

Blade techs effort to provide a carry system is not secure. What's needed is a kydex holder shaped after a Motorola Cell phone holster. With the rounds lying parellel to the body and one full moon clip resting above the other. This way the full moon clip is not sticking out as it does in a speedloader pouch.

A slot in the middle of the holder to allow access with a finger to pull the full moon clip up by the hole in the middle of the load.

This way the rounds would be fairly flat against the person and the unit would look like a holder for a personal communication device.

I tried this with my cell phone holster and the idea works but accessing the full moon clip is slowed by having to reach into the holder with out a slot.

That's my two bits worth.

I second the kydex speedloader pouch. I would love one big enough to hold two 7 shot L frame loaders and keep them close in to my side.

My personal opinion is that that's a lot of bulk for a 6 shot speedloader.

How about a belt or holster that holds 2 or 3 speed strips?

Another idea I have been fooling with but have not yet brought to fruition.

How about a couple of speed stips that somehow attach directly to a revolver?

One of the advantages of a hi cap semi-auto that is stored off the person is that it is ready to go with 10, 12, 15 or 17 rounds. Just grab it and go. No need to also grab speedloaders or strips.

I'm thinking about something that attaches two speed strips to the butt of a revolver, probably with a snap. You could then just grab the revolver and have 18 shots on board.

Most of us that choose to carry a revolver feel that 5 or 6 rounds is going to be enough and that reloading on the street is most likely not going to happen...so if you feel you need 18 rounds, you are beter off with an auto.

I don't know how you would do this with the folded, "taco" style arrangement that you have, but if you could move "c" and "e" to the front and back instead of the sides, it would be easier to grab on to the speedloader. I have Safariland speedloaders for my J-frame, and they don't have the big fat metal knob on the top that the HKS has, so you can't grab on to that to pull it out of the holster.

Also, if you can manage to make it fit, a dual speedloader holster would be perfect. For a J-frame, that's 5 rounds in the gun, and 10 in speedloaders, for a total of 15 rounds--as many rounds as a 9mm Baby Glock. Maybe you could offer both a single and a dual. You might even add a slot in the single for a folding knife.

Speed strips and carriers in larger calibers than .357? Attempts to make my own have been less than successful and N-frame speedloaders are very bulky to conceal.

Big bang, much smash'em.

cREbralFIX started this thread by asking, in part, "If you could have anything made to support your revolver (from kydex and a few other materials), what would it be?"

In response, bronco45 said, "What's needed is a kydex holder shaped after a Motorola Cell phone holster. With the rounds lying parellel to the body and one full moon clip resting above the other. This way the full moon clip is not sticking out as it does in a speedloader pouch."

I like that suggestion and agree that something shaped like a cell phone holster (leather or kydex) would be GREAT because we are all used to seeing cell phone holders on belts and think nothing of it. I'm truly surprised that no one (no one that I know of, anyway) has produced one of these. For CCW, the belt speed loader holsters that I've seen look just like, well, nice speed loader holsters...they offer little real concealment themself. (For several reasons I can't easily carry a speed loader in either pocket, and I can't carry one on my belt unless its true "application" is TRULY undetectable... and wearing a concealing garment like a jacket, sports coat or vest usually isn't an option, unfortunately, but I COULD EASILY wear a cell phone holster.) Just my 2 cents. Thanks, HRC

If you want to make some money for your gun purchases you might consider making speed loader carriers for IDPA-concealed carry use. Surprisingly enough there are very few options available today.

While I see the utility of carrying the spare on your left side most savvy revolver shooters carry their speed loaders on the right side and have access with their right hand while unloading the empties with their left.

Perhaps an inside the waistband holster with a speed loader holder incorporated into the belt attachments, one in front and one in back of the holster?

steve hammer:

I have the impression that many of the forum members carry their CC gun in a pocket holster in their right pocket. Since the right pants pocket is already filled with the CC gun, the main alternative then for carry on the right side would be a belt mounted speedloader pouch of some kind. This would likely be an option only for those who can easily conceal them, and for whom it would not compromise the gun draw and presentation. For those who don't fit those parameters, left pants pocket carry seems to be the most sensible alternative, whether the shooter is "savvy" or not.
