My 340 PD is with me 24 hours a day. When I fish, it's my old Mod 29. Over 30 years of sterling service with this 5" version of the 29.
Carried in a chest holster, it gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling while fishing along with the grizz. |

My most often carried handgun for concealed carry is a 2.5" 66-1 with night sights and a factory trigger job. I carry that because I was a cop back when we carried revolvers and I am just more comfortable with revolvers. I do also carry a 640-1 and a 638 at times. I also have a Colt Detective Special and an Agent that I also carry at times. I like the fact that the revolvers all operate the same and feel adequately armed with .38's. Frequently, I also pack a NAA .22 mag in a pocket holster for a BUG .
Hey, Mickey D, what kind of holsters are in your pictures? I would like to get some like that! |

You know my kel-tec P-32 is priority first thing and then I've just got entirely too many handguns to choose what I'll be carrying from day to day, depends on situation and activities.

Wow mousegunfan... looks like ain't nobody carrying a mousegun...so i'll confess. My everyday, all day, is just a little north american arms 32acp guardian. I lead a very very active life and it just works best for me as a belt pouch carry. i know..lousy slow on getting it into action and not much of a round, but a loud report and a decent bellie puncher and something to help me escape or get to a bigger gun.
When I know I'll be able to conceal well and carry without problem or am going to be in a more dangerous situation (and I do have those), then I have been carrying my smith CS40 DAO verison, and if I can get the damn thing right, I have a springfield 45 ultra compact V10 (1911A) style. I prefer to carry DAO bottom feeders as I like the idea of a spare mag..that's another whole forum thread.. and I admit that cocked n locked on a 1911 conceal carry makes me nervous. But about twice a year I get curious about going for a small 357 wheel gun..then I go to the range, rent one, buy a box of full load magnums, fire a few, remind myself how not fun those are and give the balance of the box away. |

Most of the time I now carry the 340PD and/or a 442. There was a brief period where I migrated to a PM9, but a few bobbles during practice sent me back to the J frame as my always gun.
On those rare occasions where trouble is expected, I would augment the J frame with a Wilson Pro .45 but it is too big for daily carry with my life style. J frame aficionado |

Thanks, they are the Saddle holster from Andrews Custom Leather. Long wait (7-9 months), but well worth it IMO. I have a third for my Colt Officer's ACP. They are suede lined and well boned to fit the firearm like a glove. Andrews Custom Leather ***Honesty is the foundation of one's character.*** |

Learning to shoot a small frame .357 snubby is like learning to give yourself a glaucoma test without blinking. Everyone is different, but I know it took me a lot of work to master the things. If the idea of wheelgun reliability appeals to you, you might find it worthwhile, Ed. Otherwise if your autos are totally reliable they might be your best bet. I've said it before, I like handguns with an identity crisis (they're trying to be rifles, a 6" 686 loaded with Rem. 125s is a great example), but a .357 snubby is no such gun since you're dealing with the ballistics of a 9mm. Those little suckers sure are wild though. |
