I agree with Grayfox...
And with Frizzman.
Absolutely !

As firearms get more powerful they get less 'convenient'.
When the gun gets too big to take along it IS too big. How big is TOO big? We each make that call based on our own individual circumstances.

As a thought...
There are predators and pray.
What are the police in relation to the criminal? The police (the predator in this case) want to 'acquire' the criminal (the pray) who want to escape.
What am I to the criminal? Now I am the pray he is the predator. ALL predators choose the less 'risky' pray. Lions choose the old, weak, young, female. So do criminals.

All I have to do is be an 'expensive', hard to acquire pray. ANY gun works for this. Against a drugged, out to do damage crazy, a BIG gun is MUCH better!!

I personally like to carry my Remington SP 10 gauge full of 3.5" slugs draped across my back as my primary, my Remington 798 safari .458 magnum down my pants leg as a BUG, an IMI Desert Eagle .41 magnum in my front shirt pocket as a #3, and my trusty jennings .25 auto up the old corn-hole for #4.

For me, carrying a concealed pistol is pretty much impossible. I wear clothes that actually fit. I will not wear one of those khaki vests that hang halfway to your knees and is as good as a flashing neon sign saying "I'm carrying a 'concealed' gun". Sure, in the winter, I could conceal an N frame, but in the other 8 months out of the year here a jacket is out of the question. Sure, I can put a Chief's Special in my pocket, but it looks like I have a Chief's Special in my pocket.

The ONLY thing I can manage to carry without it being noticeable would be my grandfather's Colt Jr .25 auto, which he carried in his pocket EVERYWHERE. I've thought about doing that, but I'm not crazy about carrying it half cocked (the safety is horrible, as all safeties are, in my opinion, and I'm definitely not carrying it with the chamber empty). Any of the .380's I have seen would sure "print" in my jeans pocket pretty plainly. I have thought about a double derringer in .38 or something, but not seriously.

Actually, I keep a model 10 (or a 15) .38 near at hand most of the time. On rare occasion, carrying it openly.

I guess you're doomed until you quit wearing body shirts and tight pants. BTW, people DON'T notice guys who wear vests. I've done it for years. You're way too self-conscious.

Actually, I'm beginning to think more about a double derringer. Bond seems to be the way to go with these types of guns... I'll have to check them out at the next gunshow.

I once considered one of the Bonds. They are well-made guns. However, the one I looked at weighed more than my 649 and was almost as big.

The Colt Jr .25 is the smallest pistol I can actually shoot. I used to have a Walther model 9 that was absolutely TINY. It was utterly impossible for my big hands to properly hang onto.

I wonder how a PPk would do for me...

I have a Raven .25 (yea I know it sucks) and I wouldnt trust it for crap. I would go for a baseball bat or pocket knife before I reached for it. It fails to extract maybe 1 in 10 and fails to fire maybe 1 in 30, and its actually in good shape (with various ammo). If you must go with a .25 at least dont get a raven.

I dont think so, my aunt gave it to me, she said she purchased it in FL about 15 yrs ago for around $50. You get what you pay for!

Ravens stopped being made sometime ago. I had a Beretta 21 in 25 ACP that was a gun little gun to shoot. I sure would not trust my life on a 25 ACP.

I have a .25acp just for fun, but I would NEVER trust my life to it. I'd rather depend on my KA-BAR knife.
I just looked at a box of Magtech .25 ammo - it says it produces a whopping 64 foot pounds of force. That's right, 64 pounds! You may as well throw a rock!
