Anyone pocket carry their Walther PPK in a Mika pocket holster? I'd appreciate hearing how you like it. Looking for something slim in the pocket to compliment the slimness of the PPK, while maintaining the excellent draw ability that a Mika provides. Have a Mika for my Model 60 but am wondering if a PPK works as well...particularly with dress pants where bulk is an issue.
Any other pocket holsters worth considering? Thanks CorBon 45 Auto+P 230gr JHP.................When you care enough to send the very best |

Back when I still had the gun, I carried a P232 in a Mika pocket holster. Worked very well, as I've come to expect from his products.
I got rid of the P232 but not the holster, and now use the Mika pocket holster for an Astra 300 . . . Shot-placement is king. Adequate penetration is queen. Everything else is angels dancing on the heads of pins. |

Thanks very much Erich. Could you comment on the slimness factor of this particular Mika holster as I'm looking to use it with dress pants and know my Model 60 Mika does have a wide tendency which is great for the draw but bulky for dress pants. Given the slimness of the PPK, is the Mika PPK holster proportionately as slim or is it the same bulkiness as the J frame holsters he makes?
Thanks again. CorBon 45 Auto+P 230gr JHP.................When you care enough to send the very best |

I'm not sure we've had the same experiences.
The material used appears to be the same with all of his holsters. I find that the naughahyde layer is pretty thick initially, but that it thins down some after the product is used for a while. With all of my Mika pocket holsters, I've found that they flatten down and become less obtrusive over time - still allowing in-pocket reholstering but printing not at all. I have found that Mika pocket holsters wear in to become substantially less obtrusive after just a couple of weeks' worth of carry. Friends with Mikas report the same experience. If you're having difficulty with your Mika holster printing, I'd recommend making sure that you've carried it for a couple of weeks - perhaps this would fix your issue. If you already have done so, I don't know what to tell you . . . perhaps you might smash the (empty) holster under a heavy weight for a couple of nights. Anyhow, I frequently carry my various Mika pocket holsters in suit pants and dress pants. The Mika in-the-pocket holster for the P232 in conjunction with my A 300 is the least obtrusive carry combo I possess. Shot-placement is king. Adequate penetration is queen. Everything else is angels dancing on the heads of pins. |

Thanks Erich. I have experienced the same flattening of my J frame Mika but was asking if the sewn in open construction of the Mika is less pronounced for the slimmer PPK.
As you know the Mikas have a very nice "stitched in shape" feature which allows them to remain opened for easy holstering. This same quality, coupled with the thicker material, makes Mikas bulkier than a thin leather pocket holster like a PCS or Kramer for instance, especially with dress pants. Thin leather holsters seem to create what looks like a large square object in your front pocket that is difficult to wear. The other problem with the thinner leather holsters is the vast width that they possess that essentially fills the pocket, as well as the lock in feature which makes it much more difficult to draw from than a Mika. If the PPK Mika holster is slimmer than the J frame Mika to begin with it would be less obtrusive to carry as some of the bulk would be eliminated. That really is the only reason I asked as I've tried the PPK in a Mika J frame holster and it is too bulky in dress pants. Just wanted some opinions before I ordered one. Thanks. I bought a holster from Robert Mika a few months back and was impressed with the friendly nature and prompt customer service of his operation. The holster arrived quickly and was well-made, fitting the gun (an S&W-made PPK/S) perfectly. My intention was to pocket-carry the Walther in a pair of comfortable Dockers during warm-weather months. But I quickly discovered that the PPK/S was simply too heavy for convenient pocket carry and did not seem -- for me, at least -- to be a viable alternative for my normal IWB preference. With summer approaching, I'm still looking for a good carry method that won't require wearing some sort of coat or jacket or sweater or an untucked shirt.

Anyone have a photo that they can post of their PPK sitting in a Mika pocket holster?
