Above said question. My first reaction would be "no" as nobody ever does it and I've never really heard or read anything in the law that says that you can.

BUT, to my understanding also, neither is there anything in the law that say's that you cannot open carry (with our without a "permit"). IOW CC is not required. This is the judgment of a LEO I know in LA.

I'm not going to go out on a limb and try it based on an assumption though

This website will tell you all the open carry states and laws. I also talked to someone at the Attorney General's office and they advised me that if I open carried and it started a panic that I could be cited.

I've heard similar comments from LEO's, and I ask them, do your plain clothes detectives start a panic? Not sure why that would ever happen. It's just scare tactics IMHO.

I believe the case history shows otherwise in Louisiana, long an open carry state. Unless you display it in a way that will incite panic in a reasonable person, there is no offense. Merely displaying the weapon in a normal manner of carry and use is not grounds for citation in that state. 'Course, the local cops may not agree with the Attorney General, who provided the above reasoning despite what his office said.

I don't open carry anywhere but I'm a truck driver and I always look at every states gun laws before I enter the state and I also call the attorney general's office to verify what I read, and that's what they told me about the panic deal. I've never had a problem anywhere but like I said I always conceal.

Every state is different. It was Michigan's Attorney General that determined someone carrying a handgun in a holster openly in plain view is not brandishing a firearm, or breaking any laws.

Louisiana has been open carry for as long as I can remember. That being said I dont often see much open carry but I do know a few that do and there is nothing made of it. Its accepted as normal here in North Louisiana
