Sipo has excellent taste in grips. Wink

I've found the stag / T-grip to be the best combo for me, for the same reasons as Sipo mentioned. (Although mine are thinner than his I believe.)

The laminated grips on the 36-7 are S&W. They're hand-filling, conceal nicely and they're lightweight.

rd, I believe those Smith and Wesson grips are made for S&W by Altamont. If so, they are the same as on my 360 except I don't have the medallions and mine have "low profile checkering". Mine are quite nice, but full power .357 have started to split them. Eeker

Don't carry a gun because of what may happen today. Carry because once, just once, and at the least likely time imaginable, you may run into the worst monster you ever could imagine. Be their worst nightmare and resist them with all the stubbornness that our pioneer ancestors posessed. To do less is to be unamerican.

I've been looking a while for wood grips as well for my 640-1, and recently came across these two makers (if not already mentioned):

Badger

and

Collins Craft

Both make some nice looking grips.

That would be a round butt.

I would suggest the following in that although not pretty (eye of the beholder) I like the Hogue Monogrip for large pocket carry or for OWB holster. Provides a full grip and great control.

You can find these for under $20, but this is from the Hogue Website. Here is the same available from CTD.

You may want a smaller rubber grip. Hogue Bantam is for the three finger grip and better suited for pocket carry.

I have Crimson Trace 405 laser grips on my 642-2. Although I like the looks of wood grips they don't meet my criteria for everyday use, sweaty hands etc.

As do you sir...funny thing is...I love exotic wood grips on on k, L and N frames but they don't float my boat on the j-frame...I fnd the t-grip with stag or orininal magnas not only fit my hand perfectly, but the 'personality' of the j-frame better...old school and all business.... Smiler

I did not care for the rubber boot grips that came with my 317. I purchased 2 sets of Herrett's Magna-style grips on Gunbroker. One set is on my 317, here is the other set mounted on my model 38.

I think they conceal better as they don't tug at my clothing. I find them controllable on my model 38 but my barrel is ported. YMMV.

Thanks shank - I thought they were made by Altamont. I had to sand them a tad right at the web / thumb area to cut down on the bite. When I purchased these I was looking for the red durawood version. They are pretty sweet though.

Pat_Jones- Thats a nice M38 you have there. The grips look perfect.
