I am very aware that 1-part booze and 1-part gun not mixing well and the laws governing. No Student, just attempting a joke. But thank you for making me feel like a young student, after 23 years, and one more to go in the Navy I don't feel so young.
I mean a student of carrying/carrying laws ect., not a kid in college.

Don't carry a gun because of what may happen today. Carry because once, just once, and at the least likely time imaginable, you may run into the worst monster you ever could imagine. Be their worst nightmare and resist them with all the stubbornness that our pioneer ancestors posessed. To do less is to be unamerican.

Interesting that they are thinking about it though, rather than just a flat out rejection.

If they say "no," I suggest you ask how you could be qualified. See where it goes. (If it goes at all..)

Got a response back today, have an appointment with the Police Chief next week to provide the information needed to verify eligibility. Will let you know how it goes.

New Mexico code says:

http://www.dps.state.nm.us/lawEnforcement/ccw/docs/completeAct05.pdf

".....29-19-10. Validity of license on tribal land. A concealed handgun license shall not be valid on tribal land, unless authorized by the governing body of an Indian nation, tribe or pueblo.
(History: Laws 2003, ch. 255, § 10.)...."

The wording of the tribal law seems fairly clear, and probably not accidental. They wanted to give outsiders plenty of room to carry in the trunk, and not so much to carry on the body. The fact that the guys in charge want to talk to you strongly hints to me that they are fixing to allow you to carry, assuming that you come across well when you speak with them.

Good luck!

ALL:
Appointment went well; he took down personnel info to conduct local background checks. He said he would contact me in a few days and if all was well would sign the back of my CPL (How the last Tulalip PD Chief did it). Received his call back today stating everything was good on the checks and I could come see him for his signature. Was a good day!

Outstanding!

Las armas son necesarias
Pero nadie sabe cuando;
Asi no, si andas paseando,
Y de noche sobre todo,
Debes llevarlo de modo
Que al salir, salga cortando.
