I am moving to Burlingame California on 8/10 from Newtown Connecticut. I know California changed which FFL's can receive guns from out of state and it is creating a problem finding a FFL dealer who is authorized to receive them. If anyone has a contact in the Bay Area that will receive 4 revolvers FFL to FFl please let me know. email is petepaduano@yahoo.com. Thanks for the help.
Pete

Since you already lawfully own the guns and are moving, I doubt you need an FFL and all the transfer hassles.

Putting that aside, I have never been in California, don't plan to, and I can't imagine any reason I would move there.

It has has been said that one will catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. While this is true, it is also irrelevant. The goal is not to catch them, but kill them. Neither honey nor vinegar will achieve this. Aerial spraying of Malathion, however, will.

The guns do need to be registared with DOJ, through an FFL. You can take them to any gunshop once you get here. Since few people in CA can legally CCW, I would suggest posting this in The Lounge where more CA members might see it.
Tabor's in San Bruno would be a good place to start.

These are a couple of good starting points. I also do not think you need FFL to FFL, but do need register them within a short time frame. A FFl would be a good place to ask about what you intend to bring and how to go about it. Good luck.

Get better, Pete. God bless you. I will pray for you too.

Don't carry a gun because of what may happen today. Carry because once, just once, and at the least likely time imaginable, you may run into the worst monster you ever could imagine. Be their worst nightmare and resist them with all the stubbornness that our pioneer ancestors posessed. To do less is to be unamerican.

Actually Connecticut is a gun friendly state compared to California. I have a non resident CCW permit from Connecticut and I never had to appear in person for anything and it was cheap. They were very friendly people to talk to over the phone also. Try doing that in California. Roll Eyes

I spent the last 11 years in California before moving to Colorado. I suggest you check with a gun-law knowledgeable attorney about the guns you intend to bring in-state. I can vouch for one - Don Kilmer in San Jose. If you bring a gun into California that is considered an assault weapon, you can become an instant felon! For example, a Walther P22 with the original threaded barrel is considered an assault weapon. That may give you an idea why I am glad I left.

Good luck with the chemo and the move! Both are bad enough without the other.

Sorry to hear about the cancer, Pete. This stuff seems to be inundating us. Get better soon. We'll expect a range report when you're able even if it's only to say you fired a cylinder downrange!

Unfortunately the Bay Area is about the most antigun place imaginable. There are NO gun stores in San Francisco, NONE in Oakland and damn few dealers around who will do transfer paperwork. You might try logging onto GunBroker.com and they have a list there, by zipcode. San Francisco successfully passed a law (overturned in court) that prohibited virtually all gun posession except by currently employed peace officers. It would have not even allowed the making of movies in San Francisco using real guns unless the persons using them just happened to be real on-duty cops. Those people are completely moronic on the subject. People, all people, including homicidal psychopaths, are OK. Weapons are evil. That's the attitude.
