That's what makes it so much fun; it gives you one more reason to buy and experiment with more guns. Big Grin

Indeed. I've added this one to my list of being as close to "perfect" as any others I've found:

Another vote for the 1911. Mine is a retired IPSC pistol with its 5 inch barrel back in place, Series 70 Colt with melted Bomars. It rides in a Milt Sparks Summer Special that's so old in only has one strap or a Blade Tech kydex rig. I've carried that pistol for over 20 years, shot it 35000 time by actual count before retiring it from competition. I can find the safety.

The perfect carry gun will be my next purchase, and that's what I also said a couple of guns ago.
For now, this M&P 40c is close enough for me.

Would you mind providing documentation for this? Such as which agency? If you're referring to Dallas PD, NONE of the officers killed in the 1970s died in an incident such as this.

A carry gun is like a boat. When you are hauling it around, it's too big. When you really need it, it's too small. Smiler

My main carry is a Colt LWC in .45 ACP.

Still waiting for some kind of documentation on this, or enough details to verify this story.

There is no substitute for quality training and a lot of practice, with the gun and holster you will be using. Any reliable weapon in a reasonable caliber will do the job IF you can hit with it. Nothing will do the job if you can't.

All my carry guns are DA/SA. I change calibers or guns sometimes because I have not had time to clean after a range/match, but they all function the same way. Three are Sigs. . P220/Pro/P226 (My favorite) the other is a H&K P2000SK which is IMO a great gun. Small, very accurate, OK recoil for a .40 out of a 2 1/2" barrell, and 10 rds.

I do shoot a Kimber Eclipse in USPSA occasionally and when the buzzer goes off I have in some instances forgotten the safety. I am sure for those who have been shooting 1911 style since 1911 this is not a problem. But while I will sacrafice a second or two in a match I will not in life.

Shoot what you are confident, comfortable, and accurate with.

I got thinking that it was about time to revisit this old thread. Since I had my camera with me today, and I've never posted pics of my "Super Aegis" 9x23 since I completed the conversion, here it is, after several months of almost-every-day carry:

I switch off to others now and then, but I just keep coming back to this little jewel.

I've also seen the story about the guy that died because he never clicked off the safety on his 1911. I can't remember where I read it except I know it was in a gun magazine a few years ago. True or false? I don't know, sounded real when I read it but that doesn't prove a thing.

I keep hunting for that perfect carry gun too. It's usually the last gun I've purchased. I always have at least my S&W 642 in my front pocket. Lately I've been carrying a Glock 30 (.45 acp sub-compact for you non-Glockers) I can shoot it at combat ranges as well as my 1911's and it holds more ammo.

Ron,

How do you carry your Glock 30 (position, holster, etc.)?

Well, I took the plunge also. Purchased a Kimber Eclipse Ultra II 1911. Should have it by the end of the week. I love my S&W 1911sc with the four inch barrel, and really like the feel of this smaller size Kimber. Also like the fact that I am still carrying .45acp. Already picked up some Wilson mags as I heard they were the best performing in the smaller Kimbers. Will try to post pics when I get it.

I'm really liking the Ruger LCP for carrying in my left front pocket. Very light and unnoticeable. I am more likely not to leave this at home where I can't get to it.
