Simply Rugged holsters seem to get recommended a lot here, but they seem like they're not as "formed" or molded (not sure what you call it) to the exact gun as the others.

How well do they retain gun compared to Alessi or Sparks? Do they hold more by friction of the gun against all sides and not so much by exact design?

Obviously not a holster expert, just inquiring how they compare and are ther any benefits to a more fitted holster. Thanks!

You're right...SRs are not boned and molded like an Alessi or Sparks. However, tehy do work amazingly well, especially for the price. An SR pancake will concela a short barrel N-Frame as well as any holster I've ever used.

And as much as I love Lou Alessi, SRs are much more available!

Count me in as one who does not see the Simply Rugged attraction.

Are there any disadvantages to them over the others (like slightly slow draw or presentation due to the friction)? Lou's holster almost releases the gun with a nice "pop", for lack of a better description!

Hard to compare them....Alessi's and Sparks' rigs are top of the line precisely molded leather and their price reflects it...for the money, the Simply ruggeds are adequate, although I found mine to be a little too unmolded for my tastes so I bought my Del Fatti LP and gave the rugged to a friend.

I'm DYING for one of the Del Fatti LPS holsters (since I like snaps). How about sharing a photo of that holy grail, impossible to order rig?

Simply Rugged holsters aren't as "purty" as some others. They just work extremely well and wear like iron.

The more I use my Simply Rugged holster the more I really like it; I actually have two...one for a Dick Special and another for a short barrel K Frame. Mine came "semi-boned"; steady use with the specific revolver it was designed for further molds the leather. I've been using a "Silver Dollar" pancake made for my Colt Detective Special quite a bit lately, and it has worked admirably.....holding the revolver high and tight and facilitating a smooth draw. Also, it can be worn comfortably strong side or cross. In my opinion Simply Rugged are in the "BEST BUY" category.....but I am enough of a veteran of concealed carry to know that no holster works for everyone.

Hoser, mine is the LP (belt slots), not the LP-QS snap model...but I do have the Alessi version of that for my P7, the CQC/S...

I have two SR holsters and both work well. I am very happy with them.

Do you have any Alessi or Sparks holster to compare it to as to ease and position of draw, retention, etc?

Kevin Manley will make the equal of that in four to five months.
