I just moved to Oklahoma and I going to get my OK driver's license in a few days, then start the process to get my OK CCW.
There are businesses in this state that just don't want you to carry on-premises, and they post signs to that effect. I will hasten to add that I have not yet seen any signs here.
The question that I have is this: if I enter a business where they don't want me to carry, (I'm not talking about a tavern, more some thing like a grocery or hardware store) and I don't see the sign and they find out and ask me to leave and I do, am I in violation of the OK law?
In Kansas it is a violation of their CCW law to carry in a posted place and is a misdemeanor. In Missouri, it is a simple trespass, but only if you don't leave when told to do so by the owner.
How about Oklahoma? Does anyone know?

I just took the course and I believe there is no law broken if they ask you to leave and you do so.

Thanks.
I'll ask my instructor then, just to be sure. Please let me know when you get your license.

One valuable piece of information I learned while I was there last week. When you take your CCW class in OK, if qualifying with a revolver, that's all you're authorized to legally carry. If you qualify with a semi-auto, you're authorized to carry a revolver or semi auto.

Don't know if you already knew that or not, but I was really surprised when the H&H guy told my sister.

Good luck to ya.

I teach concealed carry classes, and carry on posted property is often misunderstod in OK.

The OK SDA ( gun law) only says that the SDA does not take away any rights of the property owner, so many people wrongly assume they can ignore the signs, because there is no law. Wrong!

Carrying past a sign is trespass and can be charged under that law. Any sign that you can understand (like the gunbuster) is legal.
The story about your having to be asked to leave is a fairy tale, and is NOT in OK law.

The good news is that few people are ever charged. The greater danger is that the OSBI suspends or revokes the permit for "repeatedly carrying into posted areas." I know of only one individual who carried into a posted bank and was handcuffed and charged when the armed guard saw his gun.

Bottom line, if you carry into posted areas, you don't have a leg to stand on if they decide to charge you for trespass, even if it seldom happens.

Thanks, but I had just found that out a couple of hours or so ago, when I was looking up Oklahoma instructors.
One of them had a brochure on-line and this was mentioned.
Strange.
So I will take my Glock 19. I've qualified with that pistol about three or four times in Kansas. (I was a PI there.)

OKFC05, if it 's all right with you, I'd like to share this with some folks on another forum.

My experience is that you're wasting your time, and I only gave you a heads up because you said you were new. Suit yourself on trying to convice others. There is a LOT of misinformation on OK law out on the internet.
Here's the link to the complete SDA:

http://www.ok.gov/osbi/documents/SDA_Lawbook_NOV_2007.pdf

I urge you to read the SDA yourself, because THAT is the law that will be enforced, not what I or anyone else tells you.

By the way, if you had gotten a non-resident Utah permit before moving, you could be carrying in OK right now. OK recognizes ALL valid state carry permits, both resident and non-resident..

Can you qualify for both?

The way I understood the instructor is, if you qualify using the semi-auto, you're automatically qualified for both.

OKFC05 is spot on about everything. Smiler There is so much ridiculous misinformation out there on the topic. The most important point made was: don't bother trying to convince anyone else. They won't listen anyway.
