Well it was quite a pitiful sight, went out to the garage to collect my latest batch of tumbled brass only to find my good ole "Midway" tumbler had literally self destructed - vibrated itself to pieces. So needing a new tumbler all of a sudden, the first place I checked was Midway, but it seems that the quality of their motors are poor based on the reviews. Also the reviews of the Lyman tumblers are not much better either.

So my question is: has anyone purchased a tumbler fairly recently - say within the last 2 years, that's giving good service? I'm seriously thinking about cashing out for a Dillon but I "heard" the Hornady product is still well made and cost a bit less.

Any advice or experiences you care to share will be much appreciated.
Thanks folks!
Rob

Got my Dillon FL-1200 (large one) used about 15 years ago and it's still going strong. Even got crushed during a move , but Dillon replaced springs and rubber nuts free , no questions asked.

I've been using the Thumbler's Tumbler for over 30 years now and the only thing i've ever replaced was the pulley belt.
Reliable, affordable and quiet unlike those vibrating ones.

RCBS Sidewinder, Liquid Media Case Cleaner, and some warm water.......It wasn't near as expensive when I purchased mine as it is now, but the machine works great.....

I've used a Lyman "Orange Crush" tumbler for over 20 years without any problems. For what it's worth, I saw an ad for a tumbler at Harbor Freight not too long ago. I don't remember the price, but I think it was pretty cheap.

Best of luck,

Dave

Kinda expensive, but it's really hard to beat the Thumler's Model B. It's probably only worth the price if noise is a consideration, though. Well, I guess top quality matters, too. And lifetime dependability. Capacity +500acp, depending on how much media you use.

I've had my midway tumbler for 12 years with only one problem. A factory recall in which midway not only paid for the shipping, they threw in a $20.00 coupon. All in all i'm very satisfied with it.

I am real partial to my Dillon (large) tumbler. I have had it for years without problems. I DO tend to do everything in quantity and the large size works for me. It is BIG - I have room so that is not an issue for me, it might be for you.

I can recommend without reservation.

My Lortone has been polishing my brass for close to 30 years with just one belt change.

+1 on the Thumlers Mod B. I have mine for more than 20 years and have only replaced the belt twice and the rubber seal once. It's well worth the added cost if you want something that will work for years. Take a look here:

I have two, a large Dillon and a small Lyman. No problems with the Dillon (5 years). The Lyman, bought at the same time, had the plastic lid crack completely across after about 18 months. I juryrigged a lid out of light plywood and am still using it that way.

Big bang, much smash'em.

My Franklin vibrating case cleaner motor has seized twice. I tinkered with it and got it running again. The motor frame had loosened in about year, allowing the rotor to rub. First time I didn't get the screws tight enough and the problem returned after another year. The second time I did it right. It's been running strongly for the last three years, 50k cases, conservative estimate.

Hopefully, they've taken care of the problem.
