So my new RCBS vibratory tumbler is humming downstairs as we speak. About how long does it need to run to clean ~250 .38 cases with corn co media? Thanks in advance.

It is a crockpot, not a microwave. Let it go 6 or 8 hours.

I let mine run for 4 to 6 hours depending on how dirty the cases are.

Two hours is plenty for me. I don't plan to eat out of them.

One to two hours for me. I add some Dillon case polish to the media when it's new and toss out the media once a year but I don't shoot really a lot like some folks.

1-2 hours here. I don't need really prety brass to feel good about myself, I just like to knock the grit off of it before I load it.

2 hrs minimum depending on how dirty the outside of the case is and if it is nickel plated or not. Nickel cleans up in half the time.

I tumble (rotary) for two hours with a couple of cap fulls of Nu-Finish (car) polish added to the walnut media I get from Pet Smart. Does a great job and a lot less expensive than Dillon cleaner.

Using walnut media, it took two hours for 357 and just over 3 for 30-30 cartridges. I deprimed the 357 prior to cleaning and had to poke some walnut out of the flash holes with a case length gauge.

.270 tumbles for about an hour and it's as clean as it gets. .45 brass goes longer, two hours or so. Nickel .38 cleans up in almost no time.

Corncob with a couple tablespoons of NuFinish works great for me.

So that explains the short life of my brass! I let it go for 1 hr and 51 minutes.
Actually I've forgotten and let my tumblers run overnight a couple of times and it is no more clean than letting it run for 2-3 hours. I does have more media hung in the primer pockets though. I do put 22 rimfire brass in with the media and does seem to get the inside of the cases cleaner.

Don't think I can keep up with the oven metaphors, but staying in the kitchen, doesn't the medium get dull if unnecessarily over used?
