eek. 1.5 grains of variation is just poor quality control. I've never shot ultraxax and it looks like I never will. Georgia Arms is a good outfit. I shot lots of their 168gr .308WIN ammo though my Supermatch M1A and have never had even a hiccup. Black Hills blue box ammo is good stuff too.

The actual variation I found, after pulling bullets from 5 cases randomly picked from 5 boxes of one lot, was 1.6gr. Could have been a wider spread if I'd pulled a bigger sample. The nice lady at UM told the rifle owner, "That can't happen. He didn't weigh them right." Yeah, right. I can't properly use a beam balance after 40+ years of reloading. Whatever. Update: Saturday, the rifle owner stopped by my house. Ultramax had called him back and asked what it would take to satisfy him, stating that, "It was either a case failure (Yeah, they tend to do that when pressures exceed 100KPsi.) or two bullets." Looks like he'll be getting a replacement rifle or a rebuild from Rock River, on UM's dime, and, they are buying back the ammo. At least, they are trying to make it right. Gotta give them credit for that, but I won't be buying or recommending their ammo, for sure. As for Georgia Arms, I've had nothing but excellent results with their rifle ammo. In .223, I shoot a lot of their varmint loads, and they are extremely accurate and consistent. Same for their 95gr. Ballistic Tip .243s, which my AR-10 will group at about a half minute. Good folks at GA.
