As far as training and "too much weapon", if you shoot someone in your own home, no sweat. But on the street it may be a little harder to prove that you 1) couldn't back off or 2) didn't have to have a Dirty Harry magnum. I'm sure some att. could try to show that you were looking for a fight because you took special training and had too much gun.

Here's the bottom line: we live in a fear-based society. People are constantly afraid of something, whether it's anthrax, terrorists, global warming, asteroids, you name it. If there's nothing going on at present, the press manufactures something to fear. It's how they sell papers and commercial time. The government creates an atmosphere of fear to gather power and erode civil liberties. This thread is another example of people manufacturing something to worry about. There's no measurable, material danger of being prosecuted for using handloads in self-defense, no case history, no nothing, but the thread has gone on for 22 pages. We're outdoing the NY Times! Now I'll dismount from my high horse.

Thanks for the info...

I looked at the act (under prohibited ammunition) and could not find anything on handloads... just illegal ammo...

Could you point me to where I could find the reference?

Thanks

Chuck

Are you saying Oklahoma law prohibits the use of hand loaded ammo????????

Thanks

No, Chuck, I'm saying the Self Defense Act, under which concealed carry permits are issued in Oklahoma, instructs people with those permits to use factory ammunition. No more, no less. I can use whatever I please, and if it doesn't hurt my court case, the only consequence would be losing my carry permit. I LIKE CorBons, Hydrashoks and Gold Dots and a great number of the other factory options for my
carry piece, so this isn't an issue for me.

Finest kind of fear-mongering...

In the last seven years, I have come to the conclusion that, when speaking of lawyers, not only is devious redundant, but to be a good one, you better dang well have a devious mind, or you won't get too far.

It's almost a prerequisite for the job. After all, it's no justice system they practice in - just a system. Big Grin

Back on another post I mentioned we don't have a justice system anymore, it's just a legal system. No one gets justice.

'Nuff said.
