They are about as handy as they come as a single 1" bench tool fits all. And for some unknown reason, I can actually afford to buy them without a second mortgage.

I picked up 10 at a local dealer for $5.00.

The larger rings are just about all pulled...and as the moon rises in KC...another unnecessary yet seemingly helpful task is coming to a close.

It's in the blue Kool-Aid.

Sgt Preston here. I switched over to use the Hornady "Sure-Loc" rings. In my observation, their rings are much easier to fine adjust "on the fly" without having to loosen the lock rings at all. The Hornady rings are somewhat larger so I have them mounted on the: 1-powder filling station, 2-bullet seating station & 3- crimping station. The Hornady rings are split on 1 side & have a clamp screw to make them fit the die threads either looser or tighter by tightening the clamp screw. I continuously monitor the reloading process & at times need to "tweak" the dies somewhat if the process changes beyond my "comfort level". These Hornady rings are more expensive- I think I paid $2-$3 each at gun shows but only load for 3 calibers so I only needed 9 of them. Just one old Jarheads observations & opinions. Sgt. Preston,
I've heard the same from several Hornady users. They are known for their rings (as well as many other products).

Bob, it does get a little crowded on the 550 tool holder with the Hornady rings (they are larger) & I had to buy another bench wrench to fit the new nuts, BUT, when I used to loosen the lock nut on my Dillon dies, even when I held a seperate wrench on my die, invariably everything moved & I lost my setting & had to start over. In reality all I was trying to do was tweak the die a few degrees. It was just one of those little things that I found annoying. The Hornady nuts took care of it. It doesn't really increase my loading rate per hour but it helps to minimize loss of production while resetting the die. By nature or nurture & for better or for worse, I'm always striving to make things work a little better. Preston
