Do any forum members reload using the Ponsness Warren P-200 Turret Press? How do you like it? What are its advantages/disadvantages in your experience?

Yes, I've been using a P-W P200 for loading .38/.357, .41, 44, and 45 ACP for about twenty years. It works very well and loads quality ammunition. The disadvantage is that it takes some time to set up the press for each caliber, and changes to another caliber take time and careful adjustment. I normally leave it set up for one caliber and only infrequently change to another. It works very well that way.
At the time I bought the P200 progressive type presses were expensive and not many were available to choose from. Before buying another P200 I would look at all the progressives available and might well find something I liked better. That doesn't mean I am dissatisfied, but there are a lot more choices available to choose from and many of them are faster and possibly less expensive. |

I have loaded on my friends PW P-200. I am underwhelmed.
My choices would be the Lee Classic Turret (would MUCH rather have it than the P-200) if money was tight. In fact, I DO have the Lee Classic Turret press and it is very sturdy and the inexpensive turrets allow caliber change in a couple of minutes (literally two minutes). I use mine for short runs for particular calibers and when working up loads. Makes a good primary press and an excellent "side" press. You can load 150-200 per hour on the Lee. A Dillon 550B or a Hornady L-n-L Progressive (I have two Dillon 550B's and am VERY happy). The advantage of the Dillon, is the relatively inexpensive tool heads that make quick caliber changes (rifle or pistol) quickly with the dies ALWAYS in adjustment. I have one press set up for small primers and one set up for large primers. It doesn't really take all that long to change over primers but I prefer to have two presses. I have loaded tens of thousands of rounds on my Dillon and am extremely happy. You can load 500 per hour on the Dillon. Dale53 |
