We did our usual father/son weekly thing tonight and went out to dinner. The unusual thing we did though was instead of going to shoot PPC, we went to kill a few pigeons first, clay pigeons that is!

$5 for the birds and (I know this is the reloading section) $20 for the shells from Wally World and off we went!

We had a blast, pun intended.

The gun is an old Stevens side by side in 12ga that has been cut off, by someone else, and has all of the bluing removes with steel wool. I gave $100 for it to help a friend out. Well worth the money. It is going to be a "beater" gun. One you throw in the trunk and take to the worst place to rabbit hunt you can find. It shoots good and isn't too heavy. It swings into place nicely and just a fun gun to shoot.

Here are some videos:

(And no, we didn't hit everyone, but we were throwing doubles during these and the pattern opens up pretty good with the open barrels!)

Take some pictures of your next outing and share them.

A shortened Stevens SXS for $100, that is a good deal. They are great for home defense too.

Jellybean:

My thoughts exactly. I'd add an M1 carbine stock magazine pouch for extra ammo and you'd be good to go.

Regards,

Dave

Dave, Good idea. Here's my old 12ga. SXSs. The one on the bottom is a Hopkins and Allen that I used to keep loaded for home defense. I used a nylon shell holder on it but those seem to loose their flexibility and let the rounds fall out.
