I have a box of 140 grain bullets to try. However I dont think that they can shoot any better than the 158 grain xtp's. If my memory serves me correctly I loaded them with 11.7 grains of aa number 7 with winchester magnum primers and they gave me groups around an inch off a rest at a rangefinder certified 40 yards out of my 6 inch 586. Also I did it twice in row so it can be done. It could be that the 140 grain bullets would expand better in deer than the 158 grainers. However I can't comment on that because this will be my first year hunting with the 586 pistol.

Seated on top of a starting load of W296 powder and ignited by CCI 550 primers, the Speer 140 grain will cut the X-ring out of a 25-yard pistol target for me. It's LOUD, and it generates a significant muzzle blast, but that load will SHOOT!
