Hello everyone,
I'm new to reloading and have a quick question. I'm loading up some .38's with 140 Grain XTP over 3.9 gains of titegroup. My quetion is when I seat the bullet down to the ring that goes around the bullet my overall length is 1.45. Is this acceptable? Thanks, Jody |

That is the COL listed in the Hornady manual. “If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace.” Fidelity-Honor-Valor 3rd Mar Div Vietnam Sh*t happens even if the local chapter of the Moral Majority takes exception to its usage. |

The rule for maximum COL is that the loaded cartridge must not protrude from the end of your revolver cylinder. It should be at least 1/16" short of that to prevent bullet movement from jamming the gun.
If you are loading for a lever action rifle, COL may be diffferent, as some rifles have feeding issues with overlength cartridges. |

My manual says 1.455
Myself, I'm not too overly concerned with COL in a revolver. I do like to crimp in the crimp grove or cannelure. I'm not giving advise, this is what I do. Follow your manuals instructions/recipe. Have fun........ ~~ most everyone wants to harvest, yet so few to plow ~~ |
