I have a Smith & Wesson Model 25-15 .45 colt. I am casting 300 grain flat nose bullets. Does anyone have a recommendation as to powder and primer for a medium load sufficient for target practice?

Welcome to the coolest part of this forum jack!

Wanna give us a little hint into what kind of supplies, other than the bullet, are readily available to you?

Thanks and once again, welcome!

That is a pretty heavy load for target practise. I prefer a 250 gr cast over 7 or 8.0 of Unique.

Welcome to the forum jackamutt.

I was thinking the same thing. Why such a heavy bullet for target practice?

In any case, there is a wide variety of powders that are suitable for the .45LC. As far as primers go, I have always used Winchester large pistol primers for standard or magnum loads. My smokeless and APP loads ignite with no problems using these primers. Plenty of powders to choose from, but with a 300 grain bullet, you might want to go with a slower burning powder.
