Does Lyman make this? If not, is there another brand for the 500 that works with the Lyman trimmer?

Sounds like a waste of time trimming 500 Mag casings.

So, you're saying don't bother with case trimming the 500 case? I'm okay with that if it isn't really necessary.

My pilot is made by Forster. It fits my 1400 Redding. I don't know if it will fit your trimmer.
I gather alot of people don't trim pistol calibers. I hate the looks of the imperfect case mouth.
I trim mine. Smiler

Here you go http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?s...id=275813&t=11082005

I use one with my Lyman trimmer. I find that trimming the 500 cases is necessary to get a consistent crimp.

I can get 1.5-2" groups at 75 yards with my 500 from an field rest with my 500 on a good day.

Thanks for the replies guys! I'm goin to order the pilot.

XR650, I take it you ride an XR650, correct? I too am a BRP owner and rider. I plan on taking my S&W 500 with me on rides this spring/summer.

You are correct.
I don't ride as much as I used to though. Frowner

If you use a Lee Factory Crimp Die you don't have to worry about a consistent crimp because it's not case length sensitive. You get a consistent crimp everytime.

You can special order the die from Lee for $30 bucks plus $4 processing fee.

They've not updated their web site to show they'll make the 500 Mag FCD. All you have to do is make up a dummy round and send it to them and they'll make the die from that round.

I've never changed out the Trimmer Pilot in my Lyman.(I have several pilots). I use the same one for any of the cals that I reload for that requires trimming. I would assume that the 500 mag
uses large primers. I don't see the issue.
