Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith for a project I want done. I have an old and worn, but not abused Model 28, a 1955 .45 cal barrel and now a .45 acp cylinder.

I want to covert the 28 to a round butt, .45 acp with a 2 3/4 inch barrel and get a nice blue job on it.

Thanks for any info..I am located in the upper midwest.

I'd suggest you check first with Hamilton Bowen, Bowen Classic Arms:

Concur on Mr. Bowen. I've never had any work done by him, but I've communicated with him by email on potential projects. He has always been very prompt, courteous and professional in his responses. His reputation is sterling. I'm looking forward to having a project that I can have him help me with in the near future.

Best of luck,

Dave

Hello Bear4570:

I've had four customs made by Bowen and some mods on others, and have been extremely happy with ALL the work. Other excellent revolver smiths include John Gallagher, David Clements and John Linebaugh. All do great work.
