Greetings. If you have experience with Cylinder & Slide Inc.'s custom work, please contact me via my profile's electronic mail. I have a few questions and don't want to call them.

The Cylinder & Slide trailer used to be set up at the Second Chance Bowling Pin Shoot.
I had them do some minor trigger work, and a barrel throating job, for me there.
They also parkerized a worn Brazilian 1917 for me at their shop in Nebraska.

I handled many of their custom handguns that were displayed at the trailer during the match. Very nice work. I particularly liked the Browning Hi-Powers they customized. Sleek, slick BHPs.

That's exactly where they ripped me off.

I guess I should be thankful as it was one of the key factors learning to do my own gun work.

Carmoney:

Can you please provide more details as to how you were"ripped off? I always thought they were a quality shop.

Thanks,

Dave

He charged me an absolutely ridiculous, unconscionable amount of money to fix a minor problem with a front sight.

Hauling the C&S trailer to Second Chance wasn't about sponsoring the match or helping anybody, it was about taking advantage of shooters who were having gun problems at the match--it was all about Bill making as much money as possible.

Carmoney,

Thanks for sharing. What a shame. Sorry you got ripped off. Well, I guess my pistols won't be going to Cylinder and Slide.

Regards,

Dave

I have seen the work done by C&S, and it is top quality. They also teach classes on how to "correctly" work on handguns. Their prices are in line with all other custom gunsmiths. I wouldn't hesitate to send them one of my Smith's.

+1 to H. Richard; I have had a couple of jobs done by C&S and was totally satisfied by both. Their prices are in the 'pricy' range for custom work, but was worth it for me to get complecated jobs done correctly in one try. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Big Cholla

Bill Laughridge did some "warranty work" on one of my guns three years after the original job. I expected him to fix it and charge me for it.
I don't think of him, or Cylinder & Slide, as rip off types.
