What is the best way to remove holster wear from a SS gun? S&W will refinish my 4506 (police trade-in) for $150 + my $50-$75 shipping cost. The gun only has a couple of spots on both sides that bug me, so $200-$225 isn't what I want to do, plus S&W's gunsmith pricing is insane (they wanted $235 + my shipping costs to install Trijicon sights?). Any ideas out there.

I use a green Scotchbrite pad. The same one you probably have on the kitchen sink for scrubbing pans. Use random patterns. Don't get gun oil on your wife's scrubber sponge.
