So my new to me 629-4 has push off BAD, actaully the whole single action doesnt work right, cant even fire it in single action sometimes, the trigger pushes forward when the trigger is pulled, but not all the time.

Will S&W repair this under there lifetime warantee? if not how much am I looking at for a repair? if a repair will S&W replace the non MIM parts with MIM?

and why would it push off? doesnt apear to have had bubba work it over...but maybe at some point he did.

It's not unusual. I had to send a brand new gun back for the same problem. They replaced the trigger. Since it's a safety thing, I suspect that S&W will repair the gun at no charge, if there's no evidence of Bubba having worked on it. Call them and tell them the problem. They may also send you a call tag for shipping, as well. They're very good to work with (most days).

What do we mean by "push off"? To me, it means that if you cock the revolver and push on the hammer it will drop. Serious safety issue.

I once had a 629 that Bubba did work on. Three ounce trigger pull but it would push off. Besides that, you had to be d**n carefull lining up on the target or you would trip the trigger prematurely.

I think they will charge you around 100 bucks to fix.

Lifetime warrantee not in effect with your gun.

the 629 came back tuesday(think it was 3 week turn around, maybe 2) from S&W, repaired(hammer) for free as it was a warantee issue, they paid shipping both ways. I was very happy

Yes, push off as discribed above

500 Mag....why did you say the warrantee would not be in effect for my 629, it was 1990+

The 629-4 sounded to me like a old gun. I thought the lifetime warrantee went into effect around 2001. I'm off big time on this one! Roll Eyes

Anyway, I'm happy they fixed it for you!
Did they re-stone the hooks or did they swap parts?

No idea what they did, just said, Complaint=Push Off, Repaired trigger(so i assume it was not replaced)

but was pretty pleased as I bought it from someone here, he was not aware of the push off issue and he offered me a full refund(including shipping) or would pay whatever it took to have S&W repair, thought that was very cool of him..so having it repaired for free made both of us happy

Good on you for getting it done for free.

Back in 2003 I sent in a 29-3 with a push off condition and was charged around a hundred bucks to get it fixed (had to replace the hammer and trigger).

Here recently I sent in an M500 with a push off condition.

I called for a return tag and was told that there could be charge to repair this one as well. They said it would have to be "evaluted" and if was considered "fair wear and tear" I would be on the hook to pay to fix it.

I was pissed to think they would charge me to fix it and was glad to get it back with no charges.

It apears that on the stainless guns, they can re dress the sear engagement if it's not too jacked up and that saves the need for a new hammer or trigger.

I also had push off on my 629-4 MG D0B 1994
I called S&W they sent me a shipping tag and the gun was sent in last week.

I was told that 1990 was when the "Lifetime warranty" went into effect
