I recently purchased S&W 3913 Lady Smith with Novak fixed sights.
Can the Novak rear sight be "easily" adjusted for windage (right/left)? The key here is "easy" for nimrods like myself. I know it can not be adjusted for elevation. And what kind of small set screw is in the rear sight? Allen? As always, I appreciate your feedback and advice. "Nothing like having a lady in your pocket". |

"Easily" is always a relative term?
First, find the appropriate size allen key that fits the locking set screw WELL. Even if it means buying a new one, or grinding off the possibly rounded portion at the end of the key you already have. Expect it to be TIGHT. A line of liquid paper extending from the rear sight, down onto the slide, is often a useful means of determining how far you've moved the rear in it's dovetail during adjustments. You didn't specify how much correction it needed? So, go slow, moving the rear sight in the direction you need the group to go. Wild card, sometimes the allen set screw can raise a burr where it's been locked into the bottom of the dovetail. This, making it much more difficult to shift the sight in the dovetail. Good Luck! Tell us if you got it loose, and how the new zeroing progresses. |

Thanks Spotteddog. I will take this into consideration after I shoot a few more times. I changed my grip with my off-hand slightly and things just seemed to "straighten" up. Definitley want to make a few more stops at the range before I fiddle with it. But THANKS so much for replying.
