I recently traded for a 27-2 3.5". When I received it, everything seemed to be working perfectly. The action was smooth and light. After a thorough cleaning, I noticed the strain screw was loose. After tightening it, the trigger will not reset after the hammer falls unless I apply pressure to the back of the hammer. It doesn't take much pressure. Any ideas?
Yeah, But do you have that big a mustache? And NO, I ain't attending no union meetings in Gdansk! Even though that's where half my family came from, when cave paintings were still done with ash and spittle, blown on cavern walls.

Send me your mailing address and I will mail you one. Louie
The strain screw is not really causing the problem. The gun being out of balance is. The strain screw should be tight, and I can send you directions to fine tune it and correct the problem if you want. e-mail me. I have lots of factory strain screws so I don't mind sending you a full strength one.
Jeremy..........Did you mean to say that you have to put pressure on the back of the trigger to get it to reset? IF the trigger won't spring back a bit when the hammer is fully held forward(you will be able to see your firing pin in that gap in the frame between the recoil shield and the rear of the cylinder), you have issues with the rebound slide assembly. It may be only the spring. To the best of my knowledge, all N-frames use the same factory rebound spring. I just checked one that came out of a new, unfired gun, and it measured 1.150". If your rebound spring is signigantly shorter than that, someone may have clipped a coil to lighten the single action pull. My experience is that all the reduced power aftermarket rebound springs are longer than the original factory spring. You never know what you are going to get into with an older gun.
My only other question to you is: After cleaning your gun, did you pack some sort of gun grease into the holes in the frame sideplate that the trigger or hammer studs fit? If so, you may be getting a situation where grease compression is inhibiting the free movement of your trigger/hammer parts(Been there, done that).
That's a very nice N-frame that you acquired. Keep us posted as to how you get this issue sorted out.
