Model 19-4, when opening the cly, there is a light drag in one spot. Not much.
I have swaped the 2 plate screws, but it still does it. Everythng seems fine.
Is there a fix for this? stoneing the screw, maybe?

Thanks

The screw is a constant, I wouldn't alter it.
Something may be bent.
Take it apart and clean everything real good, relube and try it again would be my suggestion.
See if anything appear bent.
If someone did a hollywood closure with it the yoke may have been bent.

if you over tighten the yolk retaining screw, the cylinder will sometimes open hard. try backing off on it a quarter turn.

This is a very good way to get to go shopping for a replacement sideplate screw. These are designed to be properly tightened and if you leave them loose they will start backing out and could disappear. NOT a good idea!

I gave it a good cleaning and lube. It was bone dry on the inside. Still drags just a hint, but not bad. Just not perfect.

Thanks

Did you pull the yoke out? Take the yoke screw out and look at the end and side of it for a ware make. Pull out yoke and look on the flange on end and the machine slot for ware mark. If none, then look at the large part of the yoke that rides in the slot on the front of the frame for ware. Stone off the rough edge when you find it. Easy now, Have Fun - John

The screw must be tightened all the way. Also, the screw needs to have drag. If you file or stone the yoke then you may create yoke end shake or run out.

Lube it and go shoot it. Don't look for problems. Smiler
