How can I clean the powder burn marks from the cylinder on my factory NICKEL finish M27 ? Rubbing with solvent/patches doesn't work. Any PROVEN ideas ? I don't want to take any chances damaging the beautiful shiny nickel finish.

I have used Lead Free patches on my 29-2. I just lightly rub the cylinder face as well as the flutes and the lead and burn marks come off. No damage to the finish that I can see.

PS - DON'T use hoppies on it, it will take the nickle off. Later John

Thanks, but no mention of NICKEL finishes. Only talks about blue and stailess.

What is good for one is good for both, except hoppie or something like it. Enjoy - John

I have used Flitz metal polish with great success on both nickel and blued finishes. The paste works well at removing residual carbon, and has never damaged any of my finishes. Hope it helps.

I have a nickel model 10 and the nickel doesn't stay long on the face of the cylinder. Either a lead cloth or a nylon brush with some chrome polish will do it.

Thanks tac. Your endorsement of flitz on nickel sounds good to me.

The paste comes in a tube. I know it comes in liquid as well, but I haven't tried it yet. Let me know how it works out for you.
