Hello all,
My brother just picked up an other wise awsome 66-1 4 inch. Problem is, the yoke screw is all boogered up! I called smith to order a new one, and they sent me the one with the spring loaded black end and needless to say it didnt fit. Anyone have a part number or perhaps source for a new...non screwed up screw?

You should be abke to find what you need here: http://www.e-gunparts.com/features.asp . S&W most likely only has the current production screw, which is drastically different.

I looked but could not find one for the 66-1. They dont have it listed for that model.

They show one under the 66 no dash (part # 33), which brings up the yoke screw for the 66-3 for $3.80. That is the screw you need. That screw was unchanged until about 1988 or so when they went to the new yoke retention system.

Just order it for an old 66. They have the screws. On your gun the bottom 2 screws are the same.
When you get the new screw, you will have to use a file and trim the end of the screw. File it until it tightens fully, yet won't lock up the yoke. Keep a touch of drag on the yoke for the best operation.
