Since no one has volunteered an answer, I'll give it my best shot. I own an early 4506, no dash, with adjustable sight.

I believe a smith would have to mill the correct slot in the slide to accomodate an S&W adjust. rear in a slide set up for a fixed sight....and that would be way over $100 by the time you add in the price for the sight.

You could possibly find an after-market adjust. sight to fit your fixed sight slide, but I don't know of any.

There is a PSA/LPA sight that fits into the fixed sight dovetail. The PC uses them on some models. The original factory adjustable would be a major rework to install, you might want to look for a used slide through someone like Gun Parts Corp.

Thank you both for the info. The thing is i realy like the look of the factory adj site as well as having one one the pistol. mine too is an early 4506 no dash 1. I did speak with my local gun smith and he told me if i could get my hands on the site kit he would install it for just under $100. handgunner im not familiar with the sites you mention or where to get them but would be interested in seeing what the look like.

Here is a Super9 with the LPA, you might need a taller front sight with one. They are available from Brownells also.

Thanks handgunner. I like the look of it enough to look into one. I went to the local range this past weekend with my pistol and was not happy with it at all as the rear site on it is a night site that is obviously not matched to the front and at 25ft im hitting the bottom of the target and at 50ft im in the dirt.
