I have a chance to buy a S&W 686 at a good price.Unfortunately the red insert material is missing from the front sight. Are replacements readily available? If so where?
Thanks for any help you can offer--
Rick

thanks SW CQB 45
I was hoping that you could buy a premade insert that would slide right in and stay in place with a little LocTite--I guess not.

why dont you place a post in classified to see if someone has one laying around.

also, not sure if all front sight dovetails are uniform and if not...

you may buy one that has gaps.

again, just a guess on my part.

good luck

easy to do. first make a form, cut popsicle sticks (waxed) secured by small vise grips work well. mix two-part epoxy and add just enough orange paint to give it color. make sure the ramp is level and fill the notch flush to the top. can be trimmed after, but be careful.
