I would like to replace the sights on a Smith 908. Smith and Wesson advises that the 3913 sights do not fit and only plastic sights are made for the 908.

Anybody know what smithing would have to be done to make the 3913 sights fit a 908?

All I want are metal sights, no tritium needed.

I would find a used 3913 rear sight.

push off your plastic sight.

compare dovetails, they are probably close and the steel sight may just need massaging with a jewelers file or some 320# paper on the bottom of the dovetail to get it to push on.

you want some resistance as you cannot put adhesive on the rear sight since the SW plungers and springs are under the sight.

Thanks

Do you drift the rear sight to the left or right?

What about the front sights.

One option would be buying Trijicons. They make sights for the 908 but I do not need tritium on this particular gun.

All over Ebay at one time they had the red glow-pipe sights marked for the 915, and they were very inexpensive. I bought a set and they were very nice, but I found that the manufacturer mis-marked them and they fit the 910. My guess is if you can find a set they might fit the 908 also.

jaysouth: As a general rule; US made firearms drift OFF from left to right when looking at the rear of the firearm. Therefore, drift ON from right to left. Most European made firearms are the exact opposite. There are exceptions to both situations. ... Big Cholla
