Can anyone recommend a gunsmith to shorten an S&W barrel. I was thinking about making a 3 1/2" N frame. Can't afford a real one but I like the looks and feel of the shorter barrels. If anyone had a barrel shortened I would like to see pictures.

Just a little food for thought here.

If you're planning on doing a blued gun, you'll have $300 plus refinishing charges into this work. That makes this type of modification not very cost effective. Not only that, what do you really have after all work is done? You'll never be able to recover the gunsmithing costs when/if you decide to sell the piece.

All of the above may or may not be of concern to you but is something to think about.

Thanks Qball and BruceM. I was thinking about doing it on a stainless gun as that would avoid the need to reblue.
