Hi,have a question about the S&W keychain with 4 screwdriver blades, or the small S&W aluminum handled screwdriver. Can they be used on sideplate screws without damaging the screws ?

I certainly wouldn't consider doing that. Hollow ground screwdrivers fit properly is the way to go. Regular screwdrivers will only damage the screws and sooner or later you will slip and mark the gun.

The screwdrivers you are refering to are sight adjustment tools only.

The Wheeler Pro set from Midway has any size you will ever need.

Brownell's sell two special Magna-Tip sets JUST for S&W.
These have only the bits needed to fit all S&W screws.

The first set has a shorter, easier to use handle:

I have both the Midway and Brownell's larget set of screwdrives. Much prefer Brownell's. My adivice is bite the bullet and get the full complete Brownell's set. It is a lifetime set and you will always have the exact fit for any screws.

I prefer Forster screwdrivers. A good driver set with interchangeable bits is okay, but I've found that it is just too easy to mar other parts of a gun when using them---for instance, when working the screw behind the trigger guard on some bolt-action rifles it's really easy to mar the back of the trigger guard. There are other times it can happen too. That's why I bought a set of Forster screwdrivers.
