Ok, I feel a little dumb asking this but, is there an easy way to remove a Hogue Monogrip? I've had a couple on used revolvers I have bought with no instructions and have had a heck of time prying them off. I'm sure there's some trick I don't know about, can someone enlighten me?

remove the retaining screw and tap the rear of the grip heel in a downward/fwd direction....that should start the grip off the frame. pull down on the grip once loosened...it comes pretty much straight downward. it actually slides down a near vertical track in the grip itself....riding the attachment boss on base of the grip frame.

oh, here is some instructions that give some idea of the design:instructions

Prying??? Eeker Oh, my. If it's a Hogue Monogrip, just remove the screw and pull it down off the frame. No prying!! If it's a Hogue Bantam, then a little gentle prying is in order. If you don't have the factory double wedge, an old credit card, bent double, works pretty well. Insert it on both sides of the frame, at the backstrap, just above the butt. You'll need to spread the halves of the grip just enough to clear the guide pins, then pull the grip down and off.

Thanks guys, it was a Monogrip. The instructions from mwc really helped. I didn't realize there was a channel in there and that I could slide the grip down. Just shows why reading the instructions is so important but unfortunately I didn't have them prior to asking the question here Smiler

I recently acquired a piece with a Hogue monogrip. When I removed the monogrip, I found that the stirrup was not suspended from the stock pin, but was a special design, fully enclosed and riveted, with the stock pin having been removed. So I put the monogrip back on , rather grumpily, cause I had some nice Spegals I wanted to put on. But no stock pin, even if i take diagonal cutters or hacksaw and get rid of the permanently mounted stirrup.
Was this someone's custom modification, or have any of you seen this before? Suggestions?

Ed333 I would remove that stirip & get a Roll Pin from the hardware store, You may have to cut it to lenth but wouldn't let that Hogue Monogrip stirip keep you from mounting the Spegels..
Someone may have mounted the stirip with a couple of pop rivets??
You might be able to drill the heads off & punch the remaining parts out with an 1/8" punch
