Seems like lots of items listed in the Classifieds are also listed for sale on other boards. Makes determining who gets "dibs" a bit difficult.

Everyone needs to tactfully inform newbies, old hats, and everyone in between posting in the classifieds that "auctions" or posts items on other sites should be notified to the rules.

I'm just a lowly member trying to follow the rules, and have posted only a few items on classifieds and have never posted them on one site.

Don't the auction sites require that all items be exclusively posted on their sites? You bet.
Unfortunately, not everyone follows the rules. Roll Eyes

A few of the websites I go to allow you to post FS ads on other sites after a nominal period of posting to only the one site and not getting any takers.

Usually a 3-5 day period of exclusively on one site gives interested patries enough time to make a decision. If no takers there then you can take it to other forums.

I've been registered on several of the Auction Sites and none of them have this requirement. I have a Gun Shop and if I Post something on an Auction Site I also indicate such and will pull the item from the Auction Site if it gets sold - I do put a Reserve on all of my items. If a Customer comes in to buy at a gun, I'll check the Auction and as long as the Reserve hasn't been met I'll close the auction as soon as the Customer puts the money on the table.

I'll do the same thing for Items Posted on this Forum. If I don't have an "I'll take it" on this site I'll delete or mark it "No Longer Available" once the Customer puts the money on the table.

But, as the Rules state I only Post an item on this Site and no where else on the Internet but a "Walk-in" Customer will get the item if someone hasn't yet "committed" on the Forum.

Twice in the recent past (once this week), I posted an "I'll Take it" and followed with an immediate e-mail. Both times I got a return e-mail with the seller stating that they had gotten another e-mail before mine, and sold the item(s). No post was made by anyone else stating "I'll take it". I thought that the first "ITI" was supposed to get it. Very frustrating to say the least.

What exactly is the rule on this?

I'd also like to know, Does the first E-Mail comfirmation trump "I'll take it"?...

The way I look at is if the seller says: "First ITI takes it", that doesn't mean "first person to Paypal the money and FFL gets it", it means the first interested buyer who posts ITI gets the opportunity to buy it and it becomes SPF. I think the seller was not honest but I also think the guy Paypaling 6 C notes w/o prior notification/approval was nuts (and lucky) too. Although it was a violation of the rules in this case, if the seller has an item listed on more than one site, they should clearly state that but they must not also say: "First ITI takes it" because there may be an instance where the first ITI does not take it, i.e. this case. And it's not that potential buyer lost because he didn't want the gun enough, he played by the rules: the seller offered the gun for the price he was willing to pay for it, he posted his ITI but then he was denied. That wasn't fair and it was a waste of the potential buyer's time. I also would not deal with this duplicitous seller.

I have a love/hate relationship with Paypal and with multiple forum classifieds. I feel for Dirknar because you do have to pay money in both directions if you send it back. I also understand getting screwed on another forum. I like this new forum rule on one forum at a time. My question is, if it's not moving on this forum can you just submit a post that you are closing this one and moving to another forum without getting whacked?

Yes, as long as you state the ad is closed and being sold elsewhere. The mods, here, do NOT like running ads on mutliple Forums

The rules at top of the Classified page cover this.
