There is a posting in the lounge area entitled "Another good reason not to carry large bills around" or similar. There has been a subsequent posting of a picture of an apparently legitimate 500 dollar bill, of correct size. I suspect this is a legal problem, relating to reproduction of a negotiable currency. Perhaps it should be removed. |

A one sided picture of a US currency bill is not a big deal..if both were pictured then I think there would be a problem..having worked for 20+ years with the Secret Service at the Federal Reserve which is charged with detecting counterfeit money that is in circulation, I assure you that this does not constitute a threat to the currency..or could be a violation of the law..thanks..Deputy Chief of Police for the Federal Reserve of San Francisco..all5x

Well if I had a spare $500 bill lying around I'd be proud enough of it to post a picture

Would love to see a $500 bill. That is a rare piece of currency.

During my time with the Feds I only saw one $500 bill that was turned in..and it was shredded as is all out of circulation bills..even saw a $1000 dollar bill but we told the guy to take it to a collector to get more than what he could get if he just turned in it..he called back to say he got $1,400 for it..such a deal..there was a picture on the wall in the vault of a ladies hand holding 10 bundles of $1,000 bills..which at 100 a bundle was equal to $1,000,000..just a handful of cash..sure was a pretty sight..
